Identity Check FAQ
When you created a Alberta.ca Account, the Government of Alberta used your profile information to register you.
The identity checking process confirms your identity, and enables access to specific Government of Alberta online services.
Each online service contains information that may be private or sensitive. To ensure this information remains secure, online services must confirm your identity to be sure you are authorized to use the service.
When you attempt to access an online service for the first time, you will be automatically directed through the identity check process.
To confirm your identity, the following information is required:
First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth;
Note:If the first name and last name you entered when creating a Alberta.ca Account is not your legal name, you will have the opportunity to provide your legal name or any former legal name during the identity verification process.
- Alberta Student Number; and
For access to Alberta Student Aid your Alberta.ca Account must be Verified.
For access to MyTradesecrets additional Service Specific information may be required such as an AIT ID.
Your Alberta Student Number (ASN) is connected to a different Alberta.ca Account. In order to proceed, you will need to logout and then login with the other ID. To recover your other username or password go to: https://account.alberta.ca/trouble-signing-in
If you no longer have access to the email address or cannot recall the other account, you will need to call for assistance: 780-427-5318, Option 3.
A verification code is provided to individuals who require access to specific online services. Alberta Advanced Education emails a verification code to the individual. You can also request a new verification code, or contact the Help Desk.
If the confirmation code that you entered is not accepted, try re-entering it exactly as provided in the email or letter. Confirmation codes are case-sensitive.
A confirmation code can only be used once. Once you have used it successfully, login to the service with your Alberta.ca Account and password.
If you have a Alberta.ca Verified Account, you will need to call for assistance: 780-427-5318, Option 3.
If your Alberta.ca Account is not verified and your profile information is incorrect, close the identity check page and update your profile by logging into Alberta.ca Account at the following URL https://account.alberta.ca/.
